Potencia Partners Inc is pleased to announce Emilio Morales Cruz as the newest member of our team. Please welcome Emilio as a Senior Transformer Consultant and Technical Strategist.
Emilio brings over four decades of transformer engineering experience to Potencia, including senior technical and leadership roles at some of the most respected names in the industry: GE PROLEC, Sunbelt Transformer, Efacec, Ohio Transformer, and Qualitrol. Across these organizations, he has led engineering teams, built supplier qualification programs, driven product development, and supported utilities and manufacturers throughout North and Latin America.
His background spans electrical design, mechanical design, condition assessment, and field service—and in recent years, he's focused on transformer monitoring, controls, and digital diagnostics. Emilio is known for bridging traditional transformer engineering with modern asset management and reliability strategies.
A respected contributor to IEEE, IEC, and CIGRE, Emilio has played an active role in shaping global standards and educating industry peers. His leadership and technical expertise continue to improve performance, safety, and service life across the transformer ecosystem.
His achievements include:
- Leading development and assessment of high-voltage transformers (up to 1000 MVA, 500 kV)
- Conducting 50+ seminars on transformer health and maintenance strategy
- Spearheading ISO 9000 implementation and Six Sigma process improvements
- Supporting utilities with advanced diagnostics and controls integration
- Performing detailed design reviews
