Camilo joins us as a Power Transformer Consultant and Seismic Expert, bringing with him over two decades of experience in mechanical design, structural integrity, and seismic qualification within the power transformer industry.
Camilo is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) registered in California and has developed a highly specialized practice focused on power transformers up to 1,550 kV BIL and 12,500 A. His expertise spans active part structures, tank design, rupture analysis (IEEE C57.156), seismic certification (IEEE 693), and transport analysis (IEEE C57.150, AAR).
He has worked extensively with transformer manufacturers, utilities, and engineering firms, delivering high-level consulting services to ensure structural resilience, compliance, and operational reliability. His technical approach combines advanced finite element analysis (FEA), analytical modeling, and material optimization to enhance transformer performance, improve cost efficiency, and support regulatory adherence.
Some of Camilo’s key contributions to the field include:
- Issuance of PE-certified seismic qualification reports under IEEE 693 standards
- Design of rupture-resistant transformer tanks in compliance with IEEE C57.156
- Review and optimization of lead structures for new, renovation, and modernization projects
